Wetpour Maintenance – Keeping Your Playground in Prime Condition
Wetpour Maintenance is required to keep your playground surface clean, safe and in prime condition. This is a simple process that can be completed quickly and easily with the help of our specialist team.
Wet pour safety surfacing is installed on a porous and free draining base, meaning that rainwater easily passes through the little gaps between the granules. However, if weeds, pine needles or leaves are allowed to build up on the surface then this could clog these pores and cause the wetpour to become non-permeable. This then means that water is held within the surface which can cause expansion and damage in cold weather conditions.
The Cost-Effective Approach to Wetpour Maintenance
To prevent this from happening we recommend regularly brushing the EPDM rubber surfacing to remove any natural matter that could be present on the surface. This will keep the weeds and moss to a minimum as well as keeping the EPDM rubber in good condition by preventing the pores from becoming blocked up.
A light pressure wash can also be carried out on a regular basis to further assist with the wetpour maintenance. We recommend using a specialist contractor for this as they will be able to use the pressure washer in a way that does not damage the surface.
In the event that a puddle or flood develops on your wetpour surface then we advise the use of a chemical de-icer, rather than rock salt / grit, as this can cause damage to the surface and reduce its porosity. We can supply you with a variety of wetpour repair kits to fix any damaged areas.
